Hint 1

Try and work out the extreme sums first (cages with the largest or smallest totals)

e.g.

A cage made of 2 cells with a total of 3 can only be achieved with the numbers 1 and 2

A cage made of 3 cells with a total of 24 can only be achieved with the numbers 7, 8 and 9

Hint 2

The total sums for all columns, rows and 3 x 3 grids must be 45
